Preparatory Workshop on Political Science

The Centre of Policy Research and Governance (CPRG), along with Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shikshan Sansthan and Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur, co-organised a two-day workshop on Political Science in the Light of NEP 2020 and Indian Knowledge Systems (30th April–1st May).

Eminent scholars and educators discussed curriculum reform, textbook development, and innovative teaching methods to embed Indian perspectives on governance, justice, and ethics.

The sessions highlighted the importance of connecting theory with practice, rooting learning in India’s Constitution and civilisational traditions, and preparing youth as globally aware, value-driven citizens.

National Workshop on Sociology

The Centre of Policy Research and Governance (CPRG) co-organised the National Workshop on Sociology in the Light of NEP 2020 and Indian Knowledge Systems (7–8 May 2022), with Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shikshan Sansthan, SHODH, and the Central University of Himachal Pradesh.

The workshop called for a course correction in sociology by moving beyond Eurocentric frameworks and aligning the discipline with India’s civilisational ethos, cultural legacy, and social realities. Discussions centred on textbook reform, curriculum redesign, and the integration of indigenous sources and methods to help students engage with Indian society on its own terms.

Speakers emphasised liberating sociology from colonial narratives, embedding values and traditions early in education, and linking Indian and global sociological thought to foster a more inclusive discipline. The workshop also highlighted teacher training, experiential learning, and curriculum reform as vital for preparing youth with the analytical and civic capacities envisioned in NEP 2020.
