Transforming Society through AI is a six-month hybrid fellowship dedicated to redefining the understanding of AI’s socio-economic impact in India through actionable scholarship. We aim to empower emerging social scientists and practitioners with the tools to lead interdisciplinary research on the transformative effects of new technologies. During the fellowship, fellows will have the opportunity to produce short analytical pieces offering timely insights on the impact of AI in their chosen sector. These publications will build toward a capstone project — a comprehensive primary research study exploring the future implications of AI in that domain. Through dedicated mentor sessions, fellows will refine their analysis, receive expert feedback, and strengthen both their final research output.

MENTOR ENGAGEMENT
Each fellow will be paired with a domain-relevant mentor for personalised guidance throughout the fellowship. These sessions are intended for sharing progress, discussing drafts, and receiving feedback on short publications and the capstone project.
Expert Sessions & Workshops
The fellowship will include 4-6 mandatory virtual sessions led by AI domain experts and practitioners, covering core themes across sectors to strengthen the fellows’ understanding of India’s AI ecosystem.
In-Person Events
Fellows will have the opportunity to attend an institutional event in person during the course of the fellowship, and a closing ceremony at its conclusion, where they will present their research to mentors, peers, and invited stakeholders.

Eligibility and Details

  • Anyone between the ages of 21 and 35 who resides in India.
  • Must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
  • Individuals from diverse academic and professional backgrounds are welcome to apply.

Application Process

  • Application Form: Submit personal details, a 300-word essay, CV, and two academic/professional referees.
  • Interviews: Shortlisted applicants invited for an interview.
  • Application Window is closed for 2025.
