Programme Description


The CPRG Transforming Society through AI Fellowship is a fully funded, six-month hybrid programme dedicated to redefining the understanding of AI's socio-economic impact in India through actionable scholarship. It empowers emerging social scientists and practitioners with the tools to lead interdisciplinary research on the transformative effects of new technologies.


Programme Structure

Short Publications:

Analytical pieces of 1,000–1,500 words, exploring the impact of AI in the chosen sector, submitted fortnightly.

Capstone Project:

A comprehensive, primary research work of 6000-8000 words exploring the potential future impact of the increasing AI applications in the chosen sector.

Dedicated Capacity-Building Support:

Weekly check-ins with mentors, expert-led sessions on AI and tech policy, and fully funded participation for two of CPRG’s tech policy conclaves.

Eligibility

  1. Anyone between the ages of 21 and 35 who resides in India.
  2. Must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
  3. Individuals from diverse academic and professional backgrounds are welcome to apply.

Application Information

The process is two-fold:

  1. An application form consisting of personal details, an essay of 300 words, CV, and information about two academic/professional referees.
  2. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview.

FAQs

The Fellowship will last from April to September, 2025.

The programme requires only a part-time engagement of 25-35 hours weekly.

No prior experience or knowledge is needed in AI and tech policy. However, prior experience in social sciences will be desirable.

The programme is conducted entirely in English, including the expert-led sessions. Also, all submissions must be made in English.

The mode is hybrid. All components of the programme will be conducted online, except the two policy conclaves that have to be attended in-person.
